"It is not the healthy that need a Doctor, but the sick" Luke 5:31 |

What's the Point? Did Jesus have a purpose? Why did he come? Jesus said that the entire reason for his coming was to die for us. Jesus was the only man who has ever chosen to be born. The only reason he chose to be born was so that he could die for us! Sounds confusing doesn't it and yet it actually makes perfect sense! Jesus gave his life to 'pay' for the sins of many and he suffered a terrible, brutal and agonising death because of his overwhelming love for us. |

The
Crucifixion The
crucifixion was one of the most hideous forms of execution ever devised, so
cruel in fact, that the Romans initially considered it too barbaric.
Before his crucifixion, Jesus was flogged with a whip of leather
weighted with sharp pieces of metal and bone that tore into his flesh,
ripping away Jesus was then made to wear a crown of thorns forced upon his head which would have cut deep into his flesh and nerves and once more have generated very severe pain and enormous suffering. Jesus was then forced to carry a six foot wooden cross beam until he collapsed. When he reached the crucifixion site, six inch nails were hammered through his hands and feet as he was nailed to the cross. He was then left to hang for hours in excruciating pain. |

Why did Jesus Chose To Die?
If Jesus was the Son of God, why did he suffer so much - why didn't God stop it happening?
Jesus chose to be born so that he could die for us. Jesus had to die. If he had not, his purpose would not have been fulfilled. Jesus chose to be born and he also chose to die for us.
When Jesus said he died 'for' us, the word 'for' actually means 'instead of'. He chose to die so that we would not have to. Jesus loved us so much that he decided he would die instead of us - to pay the 'penalty' or 'the price' for all the wrong things we had done wrong (our sins). God could not let the sins of the World go unpunished, someone had to be held accountable for those sins. Jesus took our sins on himself and died so that our sins could be taken away, so that our relationship with God could be restored and so that we could choose the gift of eternal life.
Jesus gave himself as a sacrifice for us all - so that we might live and be set free. Though we still sin and fall short of what God wants from us, God can forgive our sins because Jesus paid the price for all past, present and future sins BUT we still need to ask God to forgive our sins.
God created us to have a choice - just like Jesus had a choice. God wants us to be in a relationship with him out of choice, because we want to be. If God wanted, he could make us all believe in him, but he does not want to force anyone into a relationship they don't want. You must decide if you want to be with God and allow him into your life, seek forgiveness of your sins and receive the promise of eternal life that Jesus 'bought' for you. |
